Exploring Your Digital Thread

Capturing and connecting product data across the product lifecycle is the foundational step in any Digital Thread strategy. Beyond the immediate collaborative opportunities, it creates while creating, manufacturing a product, there are additional use cases that come after the fact when the product is in use at customer sites. This demo is dedicated to exploring an organization's digital thread potential to support these use cases. Specifically, what can I do with product data once it is connected, and viewable across the enterprise?

Using a platform approach to create and sustain your enterprise Digital Thread allows organizations to collaborate in context, while a product is in development, but just as important, it captures a historical representation of decision made by stakeholders that lead to the product that is operating in the field. Accessing this information after the fact, and visualizing it in intuitive ways, speeds up use cases for failure diagnosis, design intent, and more. Supporting these use cases without a digital thread is time-consuming, if not impossible. When regulatory bodies need to know it, you cannot answer with “I think." You need confidence in your response that “you know."

Using Aras Innovator, we will demonstrate how to use the digital thread to solve a problem with a product operating at a customer site. We will show how the manufacturer of this product line has captured and connected product data across their lifecycle – from initial planning, through design, manufacturing, and testing, and on to field operation. With this information, they will navigate and explore the digital thread for meaningful relationships that can solve the customer issue and explore ways to improve product development in the future.
